About me

Hi, I’m Sarah Rajani! 👋

Welcome to my little data corner of the internet.

I’m a Senior Data Analyst based in Canada, with 5+ years of analytics experience across private and public sectors.

Right now, I work with court and prosecution data, —writing SQL, fixing reporting logic, building dashboards, and documenting things so clearly that no one has to ask me twice what something means.

But I didn’t grow up dreaming of writing SQL queries.

I actually studied psychology, added a second degree in math and stats, and thought I’d go into psychiatry. Instead, I ended up in foreign exchange, where I started using data to explain payment issues and investigate trends.

That’s where I realized:

"Hey, I like using data to figure things out."

  • Why is this happening?

  • What’s really going on underneath?

  • How do I explain it without overcomplicating it?

Eventually, I upskilled through self-learning, and transitioned into data analytics, full-time. And I brought my writer brain with me!

I’ve always been a writer, whether it was short stories as a kid or technical docs as an adult. So it made sense to start sharing what I was learning.

I started sharing content first on LinkedIn.

Now here on my blog.

What You’ll Find on The Blog

Everything I write is based on real work: projects I’ve done, logic I’ve debugged, and lessons I’ve learned the hard way (so you don’t have to).

My blog focuses on three main areas:

Career & Growth

  • Tips for interviews, portfolios, job searching, and transitioning into analytics.

Tools & Tutorials

  • Guides for learning about SQL, dashboards, Power BI, and other tools data analysts use.

Data & Behavior

  • The connection between psychology and data. How people interact with data, including dashboard design, bias, and interpretation.

Who This Blog is For

  • Mid-career professionals transitioning into data analytics.

  • New or growing analysts learning how to explain their work.

  • Anyone who wants SQL, dashboard, or documentation help.

  • People who care how data is understood, not just how it’s built.
